My people, my people, my people. The internet is full of commentary on Lebron’s actions, or shall I say lack of action, after the CAVS loss on Saturday to Orlando. Lebron didn’t shake hands with the winning team nor did he speak with the media.
I’m kind of on the fence about this, because I can understand both sides. Lebron was hurt and thought silence was better than saying something he would probably regret later. I get that. BUT I do think it shows great sportsmanship when you can lose and still shake your opponents hand.
Tony Pluto from the Plain Dealer bought up a good point…he’s only 24 years old. Pluto’s column challenged all of us to remember how we were at that age. Could we have handled millions of dollars coming out of high school and having every move we make monitored by media? It was a good question. My answer is no.
Lebron is entitled to have a bad day. An off moment. A lapse in good judgement. His nickname is “King James” not King Jesus! The man isn’t perfect. He is a man. A HU-man being. Prone to flaws and character inconsistencies like the rest of us.
Would I have liked to have seen him shake hands with the Magic? Yes. Will I condemn him for not doing it. No! Give me a break people. Does one night cancel out all of the GOOD things he has done and is still doing?
Let’s all take a deep breath and look at the positive. The CAVS had a great season. The team had a chemistry that was undeniable and hopefully it will be even better next year.
This “shake-gate” will pass and Lebron will still be the wonderfully gifted athlete that he is. Don’t kill the man with malicious words for this one act.
It’s time to move on!
GO CAVS!!!

She grew up in a strong Christian home. Believing the best in people. Until something bad happened. She wasn’t abused by her enemies. She was abused by a boyfriend and the man she thought she would love forever.
Ruth Johnson’s story is hard to hear, but needs to be told. There are many women who suffer through domestic violence not knowing where to turn. Hopefully her transparency and candidness will inspire a woman to seek help because help is available.
If you need more information, Ruth founded Pneuma Life Foundation for the Prevention of Abusive Family Environments. You can contact them via e-mail pneumalife1996@yahoo.com
Ruth has a powerful story and I feel honored that she trusted me with it. Click on the link below to watch it.

p.s. Ruth is now happily re-married to a wonderful man and she continues to train and inform people on domestic violence issues.

Every now and then I meet people who inspire me to be a better person. Marisol Lugo is one of those people. She is strong, courageous, intelligent and a beautiful woman inside and out.
Her life hasn’t been easy. She’s had some rough times growing up and her adult life has been filled with challenges. Yet Marisol took her “mess” and turned it into a message. A message of hope.
Transitional Housing played a key role in her turnaround. If you would like more information on their programs go to www.transitionalhousinginc.com
I am glad that I know her. I know the sky is the limit for this determined woman. Click on the link below to hear “Marisol’s Story”.

*I received a complement today from a student who was shadowing me from Glenville High School. He told me he thought I was 28 years old!! God Bless him and his “youthful” eyes!
*My goddaughter stayed with us last night (she’s 20 years old) and we were looking at old pictures. She says to me “Mom, you look nice and thin in these pictures. Now you have a big butt!” (I will not comment on what happened to her after she said that…I plead the fifth)
*I’m over the filet-0-fish song. It’s time to let it go. No more singing fish, no more singing fish…I’m not laughing at all!!
*My dog Justin is on spring break next week. Yep, he’s going on vacation for a nice loooong relaxing week. Where you ask? To that thriving, cool, laid back suburb called Strongsville. Home to Grandmommy and Grandpoppy. Yippee!! (Justin mommy loves ya, she just wants you to “share” your love with others for a bit)
* I’ll be celebrating my 3rd wedding anniversary in a couple of months and my father is finally coming to the realization that I’m married. He stopped asking me to hang out with him and my mom on valentine’s day and the footy pajama gifts are no more. Wait a minute, he did buy me an “Elmo Live” doll recently. Oh well, I’ll keep praying!

Ok people. Why do I see flip flops and crusty heels? Why am I seeing shorts and tank tops? Don’t you know the relationship Mother Nature has with Northeast Ohio? She seduces you into thinking that warm weather is here to stay and then BAM here comes the snow.
Didn’t you learn your lessonn last week? Do you remember the frost that was on your car windshield a few days ago? Be wise. It’s not quite summer time and the Easter Bunny isn’t totally in the safe zone either. We’ve had our share of snow-filled Easter mornings.
Spring really hasn’t sprung! The calendar means nothing in Northeast Ohio. Wait until the end of May, and then maybe Mother Nature will take her cold breath elsewhere.
Until then,…leave the flip flops in the closet, go get a great pedicure(men too), model your shorts in your home only, and wait for the “true” summer breeze!
Stay Classy!

She’s the daughter of the late Coretta Scott King and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Rev. Bernice A. King is a positive force with more than just her father’s legacy in her arsenal.
I was honored to sit and talk to her about today’s youth, the call on her life to preach and yes, what she does to relax a little bit. She’s a very warm spirit that’s determined to make a change in this world.
Watch tonight’s Woman 2 Woman by clicking the link below and feel free to send me your thoughts. I love hearing from you!

County prosecutor….mean, tough, rough, hard-nosed? Yes, sometimes they have to be. But Summit County prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh is pleasant, has lots of positive energy, and fun to be around. She defies the stereotype of the tough prosecutor. Now don’t get me wrong, she can pull out her “stern” side when she has to. But overall, she’s a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister and she’s passionate about helping people.
Check out her story from tonight’s Woman 2 Woman!

I am absolutely, positively hooked on the Micky Dee’s filet-of-fish song! I think I sing it about 5 times a day. It just pops out at the craziest times and I crack up.
But what’s interesting is that it makes me want to go buy one. Seriously! I’m averaging twice a week now and I know it’s because of that song.
“What if it were you hanging up on this wall, if that were you in that sandwhich you wouldn’t be laughing at all!” Having the fish sing the song is genius and the voice is hilarious. How about the men that just sit there nodding their heads and eating a fish sandwhich!!!
I have to say, McDonald’s gets two thumbs up for this one.
Have you heard/seen the commercial? What do you think of the song?
Write me back!
Danita
p.s. The sweet tea is to die for…try it!

When I say the name Liz Symon some of you may not know who she is. Most people know her husband Iron Chef Michael Symon. But Liz is the wind beneath his wings and he’ll be the first to tell you that. I’ve known both of them for years and they are a great couple and they work well together.
Liz is so easy to talk to and a lot of fun. I had to remember that I was working because we were having such a great time hanging out at Lola’s in downtown Cleveland. Liz has the magic touch when it comes to design and creating a warm, comfortable dining experience. She’s also great at creating award winning wine lists.
I personally think she’s great! I’m sure you’ll see what I mean when you click the link below.
